Many in the commercial vehicle industry are aware of Bartlett’s industry leading towing equipment, however, some may not be aware of Bartlett’s Melbourne design and installation facility. Bartlett’s five truck work bays are equipped to provide “Whole System” conversions preparing heavy vehicles to tow trailers. Services include:

• Towbar Systems – Design and installation
• Trailer couplings – all types and brands
• Safety Chain systems
• Air brake supply systems to trailers – ADR and VSB6 compliance
• Auto Electrical, including ABS to trailer
• Heavy vehicle modification reports

The legal and technical challenges faced by vehicle modifiers is constantly evolving and far from easy to keep up with. This is where the Bartlett service can alleviate the pressure so that Body builders, Truck dealers and other equipment fitters can get on with what they do best.
Bartlett engages skilled trades people and industry qualified practices at their Melbourne workshop facility based in the outer eastern suburb of Hallam.
Apart from the fitment of their wide range of towbars for most models of trucks, buses and coaches, the Company also provides many other associated workshop services.

TRAILER AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS.
Bartlett supply and fit a comprehensive kit, including tractor protection valve, hand control valve, stop light system, trailer air couplings and various other fittings which are plumbed into the vehicle’s compressed air braking system in accordance with ADR’s and VSB6.
This work requires a high level of technical expertise to ensure all compliance requirements are met.

AIR BRAKE SYSTEM TESTING.
When truck or trailer modifications are carried out, after original manufacture, they must conform to VSB6 and meet all ADR requirements. Bartlett, as an engineering signatory recognised by the registration authority, is authorized to conduct the following…

. Inspect circuit integrity and the quality of the workmanship.
. Carry out performance testing – response time analysis.
. Provide vehicle modification reports for the registration authorities.
. Create and affix a vehicle modification plate to a vehicle.

AUTO ELECTRIC SERVICES.
Bartlett is also qualified to carry out 24 volt to 12 volt reduction conversions, supply and install electric trailer brake energizers and fit both standard and special trailer sockets.

OTHER SERVICES
Bartlett workshop services also include the supply and installment of Ball, Pintle Hook and Automatic Pin type couplings, Air Couplings and Parking Legs.

RATING PLATE & COMPLIANCE REPORTS.
Every Bartlett towbar is serial numbered for traceability. Once installed each towbar is supplied with a Rating Plate which is accompanied by a report that summarizes the vehicle’s legal towing capacity and the recorded date of installation, a valuable document for fleet managers when conducting safety audits.
